to the Dutch cabinet on governance in the information age.
Mission
Explaining the objectives and origin of the Infodrome project.
Institutions

from papers by, and discussions with, a large number of

The
use of Space
ICT supports the transformations of the urban today into
a network structure ("network city"). Within this so-called
"network city" we can observe both parallel contradictory
tendencies of concentration and deconcentration of urban
functions. A report with the results of a workshop on this
subject.
Property
Rights
This paper reports on the discussion about changes in the
environment for intellectual property protection through
intellectual property rights (IPRs), and the challenges
posed by a changing IPR landscape in the information age.
THE INFLUENCE OF ICT ON SOCIETY AND GOVERNMENT
Introduction: Naive belief in progress or hard
reality ?
We can say that we more or less already live in an information
society. Or, as is often said in general terms: 'the impact
of ICT on society is large and is growing'. But that does
not tell the whole story. The power of the imagination
is not always supported by empirical evidence. On the
subject of ICT and society, the tenets of techno gurus
and their agnostic counterparts are somersaulting over
one another. The scientific surveys gathered together in
this bundle make an important and substantial contribution
to this effort. They are studies from three different
disciplines that largely cover the aspects of our society:
social psychology, the law and the economy.
Social-psychological
issues
This survey reviews the effects of the new information communication
technologies on the individual and society, with particular
emphasis on the social psychological dimensions of their
impact. The changes in society brought about this information
revolution are undeniable.
The conceptual
shortage. Legal implications of the digital Revolution .
This survey focuses on the role of the law and, in more
general terms, the role of the legislator in the modelling
of our virtual society. The question which is immediately
posed is whether the law actually plays a role in the development
of Information and Communication Technology and, more specifically,
the Internet. After all, is it not true that the virtual
world is a completely free society which is not bound by
traditional standards and values? According to John Perry
Barlow. , there is no law in the Internet world and that
is how it should be.
E-conomy:
ICT and market operation
A survey that's trying, from a micro-economic perspective,
to throw some light on the question of what is new in the
new economy, and what can be expected in the future. It
concentrates in this endeavour on the question of what impact
ICT does have on the operation of the markets. It describe
changes that are currently taking place and trys to discover
trends that are relevant to the future.
In
bits and pieces
ICT is vulnerable. Cybercrime, internet breakdown or los
of electricity could be dangerous to society. This paper
takes a closer look at ICT-vulnerabilaty in the Netherlands
and abroad.
